City Gas Pipe line INfrastructure
City Gas companies are using three kind of pipe lines. Primary high pressure Gas grid in city is underground steel pipe line. Secondary medium pressure under ground pipe lines are Medium Density Polyethylene pipe lines. Tertiary pipe line are above ground used for domestic (GI), Commercial & Industrial (MS).
Carbon Steel Pipe line
Underground high pressure Carbon Steel of standard API 5L of various grade based on city demography.
MDPE Pipe Line
Underground Medium Density Polyethylene Pipe (PE100 or PE80) of various SDR grade to cater pressure requirement of customer.
GI & Copper
Galvanized Iron and Copper tubes are used for low pressure and above ground installation.
General Procedure of Carbon Steel Pipe Laying
Route Survey
Detailed route survey of the city where pipe line to be laid. Out of all probable routes, selection of best route for laying.
Approvals
Based on route survey, apply for approvals with route layout and prevailing procedure to lay Natural Gas pipe line.
Laying
EQT, WPR, site grading, trenching, stringing, holiday, welding, RT, coating, lowering, back filling, matting & marking.
Commissioning
Hydro testing, swabbing, drying, Golden joints, Valve testing & fixing, Nitrogen purging & commissioning.
General Procedure of MDPE Pipe Laying
Route Survey

Laying
Site clearing, making trench, de bundling, Electro fusion of fittings, lowering and back filling, matting & marking.
Commissioning
Compressed air pressure holding, Pressure & Leak check up, Nitrogen purging & Gas charging.
